Quick Room / Help
Help Center
Define room data once and reuse it with room profiles.
What Quick Room does
Quick Room takes the repetition out of room data entry in Autodesk Revit. A room profile holds a room name and a set of parameter values. Pick a profile, click a room in your floor plan, and the data and tag are done.
Use profiles for recurring room types, such as offices, hotel rooms, bathrooms, and residential spaces, to keep room information consistent.
Before you begin
- Quick Room runs on Autodesk Revit 2027 on 64-bit Windows.
- Open the Revit project you want to work on and save it before applying changes.
- Start your trial or activate a license key from Manage license. Both need an internet connection.
- Check that the room parameters you plan to fill are present and editable in the project.
Set up a project
- Open Quick Room. On the Revit ribbon, open the CG Archworks tab and click Quick Room.
- Choose your fields. Open Tag and Field Settings, use Select Sample Tag, then check the writable room fields you want to fill.
- Save the settings. Click Save Project Settings, then save the Revit project with Ctrl+S. These settings stay in the project.
- Create profiles. Open Room Profile Settings and click New Room Profile. The profile name becomes the room name. Enter the field values, then click Save Room Profile.
Room profiles are available in all projects for your Windows user. An empty value in a profile clears that room parameter.
Apply a room profile
- Choose a profile. Select it under Saved Room Profiles.
- Click in a floor plan. Click a room or room tag. If an enclosed area has no room or a room has no tag in this view, Quick Room adds it.
- Keep going. Click more rooms with the same profile, then press Esc to finish.
- Check the result. Inspect the room properties or a room schedule to confirm the values.
Tip: Test a profile on one room first. Applying a profile replaces the values in its fields. Each click is one Revit transaction, so one Undo reverses it.
Tag types
Change the selected tag to the saved tag type is on by default, and your choice is remembered. When it is on, existing tags change to the saved type. When it is off, they keep their current type. New tags always use the saved type.
Other views
Outside floor plans, Quick Room only works with existing rooms and tags. Select a room tag, or turn off the tag type option to select either a room or a tag.

Troubleshooting
Quick Room does not appear in Revit
Confirm that you are using Revit 2027, then look for the CG Archworks tab. If that tab could not be created, the button is on the Add-Ins tab. If Revit was open during installation, close and reopen it.
If the add-in still does not appear, contact support with your Revit version and any add-in loading message shown when Revit starts.
A profile does not update the expected values
Check the selected profile and its values, then confirm that you clicked the intended room. Make sure the field is checked in Tag and Field Settings and that the parameter is present and editable.
If you see a message about a field mapping or a missing saved value, open Room Profile Settings, review the profile, and save it again. Fields reused from another project must be selected in the mapping list, because names alone are never matched.
A room or tag was not added
Rooms and tags are only added in floor plans. If Quick Room reports no enclosed area, close the area with walls or room separation lines and try again.
If a room cannot be created in the phase of the active view, place it with the Revit Room command first. If the saved tag type is missing, select a sample tag in Tag and Field Settings, save the settings, and save the project.
I cannot select the intended room
Confirm that the room exists in the project and that you are in a suitable view. Review the view's visibility and phase settings if the room is not visible.
A room and its tag are separate elements, so follow the prompt shown by Quick Room. Linked or orphaned tags cannot be updated.
Quick Room says another team member is editing a room
In a workshared model, Quick Room leaves a room or tag unchanged if another user owns it. You can continue with other rooms and return once that element is available.
The room schedule does not show the expected values
Inspect the room's properties first to check the applied values. Then confirm that your schedule includes the affected parameters and target rooms.
Review the schedule's filters and phase settings if the expected room is missing.
The result is not what I expected
Press Esc to finish, then use Revit's Undo to reverse the last click. Check the profile values and target room before trying again.
If the issue persists, contact support with the steps that produced the result.
Quick Room asks me to verify my license
Open Manage license and use Check connection. After a successful verification, offline use is available for up to seven days, up to your trial or license end date. Losing access does not delete your room or tag data.
Frequently asked questions
Which Revit versions are supported?
Quick Room is for Autodesk Revit 2027 on 64-bit Windows. If you are unsure about compatibility, contact us with your Revit version before installing.
How can I check that a profile was applied correctly?
Select a target room and inspect the affected parameters in its properties, or review them in a room schedule. Compare the values with the selected room profile.
Where are my profiles and settings kept?
Room profiles stay in local files for your Windows user. Tag and field settings stay in your Revit project, so save the project after changing them.
What should I include in a bug report?
- Your Revit version, including the build if available.
- Your Quick Room version, shown in the title bar of the Quick Room window.
- A short description of the expected and actual results.
- The steps needed to reproduce the issue.
- The exact error message, if any.
- Relevant parameter names and screenshots.
Error details are written to %LOCALAPPDATA%\CG Archworks\Quick Room\quickroom.log on your computer. That file leaves your computer only if you choose to send it.
Remove confidential information from screenshots and share only files you are authorized to send. A small sample project may help if support needs to reproduce the issue.
Where can I read the privacy policy?
Visit our Privacy Policy for information about the add-in's data practices, support communications, and deletion requests.
